Atkinson and Makins at the doubles! Duo claim Boston Tennis Club title

There have been a number of Boston Tennis Club Tournaments to round off 2019.

The post-Christmas over 35s Mixed Doubles Tournament, sponsored by Bombay Brasserie, took place on Saturday.

There were a good number of entrants and they were split in to two groups.

In Group A, Helen Duckett and Phil Cosgriff came through, losing no matches but narrowly beating the second-place pair of Julia West and Gary Fitzjohn.

In the other group there were some close results with the eventual winners Rachel Atkinson and David Makins beating Denise Priestley and Richard Cozens to go through to the final.

David and Rachel won the title with a 6-2 victory in the final.

In the 2019 Boston Tennis Club Winter Club Championships, several months of competition have taken place.

Some of the events are still to be decided but quite a number have already been concluded.

The eight and under competition was won by Alayna Buswell, with Olivia Hilton the runner-up.

Keita Cica, Charlie Cook, Noah Holden, Lewis Patchett, Ellie Nundy, Natasha Dodes and Alex Underhill also featured in this category.

Declan Dodes won the nine and unders with Alayna Buswell second and George Skipworth in third place.

Matilda Buck won the 10 and under mixed singles and Emily Pye was runner-up.

The 14 and under girls’ singles was won by Emily Stukins with Martha Baxter the runner-up.

The results for the other categories will be decided in the New Year.
