Lindsey hits unbeaten 113, defeats for Woodhall and Horncastle Firsts, double joy for Revesby - cricket

Woodhall Spa CC host Lindum on Saturday as they look for their first victory in the new Lincs ECB Premier campaign.

The Spa men began their campaign with defeat at Louth at the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Seconds travel to Sleaford Seconds in the SLBL Premier, the Sunday Firsts hosting Ancaster in Lincoln and District League Premier Division the following day.

This Saturday sees Horncastle entertain Nettleham Seconds in the Lincolnshire County League Third Division and a day later the Sunday sides host Nettleham Sunday Firsts in the Lincoln and District League Division One.

This weekend Revesby Firsts host Bracebridge Heath while the Seconds have a blank weekend.

Laurence Scott’s 98 runs off 94 balls but Louth in the driving seat when they hosted Woodhall Spa in the Lincs ECB Premier on Saturday.

He was caught by Oliver Caswell off Tom White’s delivery two short of his century, while Jason Collinson was as many runs shy of his half century when he was run out by Alex Hodson.

But good knocks from Matthew Hamilton (42), Samueal Jones (37) and Andrew White (29) helped the hosts post a strong 294 for 6 off their 50 overs.

Nick Bennett took three Louth wickets with White adding two.

Woodhall couldn’t match Louth’s total, finishing their innings 68 behind on 226 for 9.

Opener Oliver Caswell’s 64 gave the Spa men hope while Gareth Grant (26), Jack Hughes (25), Matthew Sergeant (22) added to the total.

White’s 32 and 16 from Tom Caswell put further runs on the board further down the order.

Thomas Cuthbert and White both claimed three Woodhall victims.

Skegness proved too strong for Woodhall Seconds in the SLBL Premier, winning by two wickets.

Dany Wells (39) and Simon Beham (30) top scored as Woodhall were dismissed for 187.

Skegness reached 189 for 8, Jamie Epton hitting an unbeaten 94 runs while Kieran Richardson took four wickets.

Woodhall Sunday Seconds beat Aisthorpe by 33 runs in the Lincoln and District League Division One - Alfie Lindsey hitting an unbeaten 113 as the side posted 183 for 6.

The visitors were all out for 150, Patrick Mullaney taking four wickets.

Horncastle CC were beaten by 55 runs when they hosted rivals Louth Thirds on Saturday.

Louth posted 206 for 2 off their 30 overs. William Broughton and David Grest took the Louth wickets.

Grest top scored with an unbeaten 57 as Horncastle reached 151 for 2, Fraser Pemberton adding 37 runs and Jack Thompson 22.

On Sunday Horncastle were beaten at Owmby in the Lincoln and District League Division One. Nathan Whiting (18), Jonathan Clark (15), Richard Hickling (13) and Tom Johnson (12) helped Horncastle reach 97 for 8.

In response, the hosts made it to the winning total of 98 for 6. Hickling (two), Johnson, William Broughton, Thomas Hackett and Ewan Hannam took wickets.

Revesby CC secured two victories on Sunday.

The Firsts won by nine runs at Lundum in the Lincoln and District League Premier Division. Robert Knight (34) and Robert Jeffery top scored before the side were dismissed for 129.

Lindum were out for 119 with Jamie Lewis and Darren Hunt taking four victims apiece.

The Seconds beat Rustons by 84 runs in Division Two, posting 148 for 3 thanks to Paul File’s 67 and 28 from Ian Roberts. Visitors Rustons were out for 84 as Simon May, Isaac Taylor and Jack Richardson took wickets each.
