Lea Park II were in dominant form against Woodsetts III on Saturday in Bassetlaw Division Eight.

After being put into bat on an unpredictable pitch, Lea openers Dom Bolderson and Matt Saunders began in cautious manner, until Bolderson was bowled by a ball that barely bounced.

Saunders (39) was joined by Michael Overson, who showed his intent early with a couple of big shots, before being caught at slip chasing a wide ball for 17 whilst Saunders then threw off the shackles, launching Jackson for 16 in one over with some good footwork and powerful strokes.

But he soon departed after trying one too many and being stumped.

This brought Nick Ward Lowery (53) and Harry Street (59) together, and they added a brilliant 99 together.

A late collapse saw Z. Chowdhury (19), Z. Metcalfe (0) and Jim Roberts (0) all perished looking to add runs quickly, leaving Ross Woolley 10 not out.

The Woodsetts reply began at pace, with Street (1-42) unable to replicate his batting form, but he made the early breakthrough removing Ford for five, whilst Metcalfe bowled with controlled aggression and finished with figures of 2-20, including the wicket of the powerful hitting Stone, who was well caught by James Mann.

Bolderson replaced the wayward Street, and quickly set about dismantling the hosts’ top order.

Wilson was bowled by good straight ball, whilst a good, if painful looking catch by Saunders saw him claim a second wicket in his opening spell.

Another change of bowling saw Jim Roberts show the benefits of bowling with accuracy, claiming 3-3 from his six over spell.

All that remained was for Mann to take the final wicket, and Woodsetts’ visitors returned home with a maximum 20 points.
