Draw for championships is made

The draw for Boston Tennis Club’s Chatterton’s Winter Championships has been made.

There are a number of different competitions across different agee categories.

In the senior doubles there are two groups of pairs playing matches against each other before moving on to the latter stages of the competition.

In Group A Mike Burnett and James Newton, Robert Bonser and Larry Churchward, Richard Parkin and Ian Scott plus Neil Buck and Jason Pye are competing.

Group B includes Ray Frankish and Jeremy George-Jones, Rachel Gedney and Rachel Hawkesworth, Chris Cook and John Gibson plus Bart Griemink and Dan Mountain.

The ladies’ doubles has Emma Mastin and Alice Gamman, Florence Baxter and Isabel Wookey and Matilda Clark and Emily Pye ready for action.

The men’s singles has a qualifying group of players – Richard Parkin, Robert Bonser, Philippe Servonat and Trajan Dimsey.

The winners are heading for a place in the main draw where they will be up against Lucas East, Calum McCaig, Jeremy Geroge-Jones and Hayden Bingham.

The girls’ singles at 16 and under has Riya Rambani, Emily Pye and Emily Stukins playing.

In the mixed doubles there are again two groups playing round robins for a place in the latter stages.

These doubles pairs include Jeremy George-Jones and Penny Gibbons, Phil Cosgriff and Helen Duckett, Chris Mepham and Sarah Grant, Geoff Short and Emma Mastin, Richard Cozens and Denise Priestley and Peter and Hilda Hastings, Larry Churchward and Sharron Thorogood, David Makins and Rachel Hawkesworth as well as Alex and Mandy Rudkin.

With the recent weather being not too kind, keen Boston Tennis Club members are looking forward to some drier and warmer weather.

At the moment for adults, tennis is allowed indoors between members of the same household and outdoors singles and doubles for adults from all households is allowed.
