First and second for husband and wife

Louise Lowe was the first lady home for Clowne in an impressive 32.47, in the event the Road Runners organise.

And husband Gareth managed to take second, despite giving the rest of the field a 200m head start.

As the race began he was still warming up, but recovered to finish two seconds behind winner Chris Shelton from North Derbyshire RC, in 26.10.

The Elmton Chase supports the Elmton Well Dressing celebrations and is run from the Elm Tree pub on a five-mile circuit over fields, tracks and roads.

The men’s team prize went to the Clowne team of Gareth Lowe, Steve Battle and Dave Hazelton.

The Ladies team event was also won by Clowne, thanks to the efforts of Louise Lowe, Michelle Needham and Katy Taylor, a recent addition to the club.

Two of Clowne’s fell running specialists took on the Kinder Trog, a 16-mile race around the Peak District, with 3,490ft of ascent.

Simon Gregory came home in 82nd position in 2hrs 32 mins and Steve Battle in 107th in 2hrs 42 mins.

Taking part in the Humber Bridge Half Marathon, Andrew Foster managed a personal best time of 1hr 45 mins, finishing 375th out of almost 1,600 runners.

In the 14th Barlborough 5k and fun run, Clowne’s Katy Taylor was the first lady home.

The race, organised by the Barlborough Babes, supports Jog Derbyshire, whose aim is to encourage people to become fitter and be more active.

Anyone is welcome to attend Clowne Road Runners training nights on Thursdays at the Clowne Community Centre at 7.00pm, under coach Andy Ward.

The Rother valley 5km Park Run saw Gareth Lowe win in a time of 15.50 to set a course record.

Two of Clowne Road Runners’ new girls achieved their first awards in the same race,

Emma Mackie and Suzanne Leusby both gained their bronze club standards in 24.37 and 24.38 respectively.

The Brinsworth 10k was completed by Andrea Walker in a time of 49.10, whilst Dennis Learad travelled to Withernsea on the east coast to run the Withernsea five mile in a time of 34.46.

The Spire 10 mile, run around Chesterfield, had five Road Runners involved.

First home was Adrian Kirkham, finishing 46th in 1hr 18.57mins.

First lady for Clowne and second in the ladies over 35 vet category was Louise Lowe in 1hr 20. 28mins, followed by Neil Inns 1.24.42, Gillian Carter 1.38. 02 and Angela Kirkham 1.48. 48

The No Walk in the Park 5km race at Queens Park saw local Whitwell newsagent Peter Roberts finish third in a time of 16.52.

Darren King represented Clowne in the Lakeland Trails Marathon.

The Lakeland Trails Marathon takes in a complete circuit of Coniston Water, the idyllic beauty spot of Tarn Hows, the elevated Beacon Tarn, and the whole course gives panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.

King finished in third place in a time of 3.20.57.
