Impressive Skegness Town pipped by Holbeach in friendly

Skegness Town were narrowly beaten 1-0 in their second pre-season home friendly against Holbeach United last night.

The Lilywhites, who had four trialists in their squad to run the rule over, started the game looking dangerous in attack, but after numerous raids on the Holbeach defence, struggled to put any chances away.

Their best opportunity came when Dec Johnson won a penalty but Luke Rayner-Mistry failed to put it away.

Continuing to keep spells of possession and pushing the Holbeach back line, Skegness looked the stronger side in the first half but the teams went in at 0-0.

However, Holbeach went up a gear after the break and began pressing forward.

And on 52 minutes they were rewarded as they found a break in Skegness' back line and Louie Garner finished the chance to give the visitors the lead.

There was a continuous end to end spell in the latter stages of the half but Holbeach held onto their lead right up to the final whistle to make it two friendly defeats in two for Skegness.
