But on Saturday he returns to his former stamping ground looking to help his current club get revenge on his old side (KO 3pm).

“I just take it as another game,” said Simmons, stating there’s no time for sentiment in this National League North season.

“We’ll go there wanting to win, play well and get the right side of the result.

“Whenever I play I just want to do well for me and my team, that’s always got to be the case.”

Despite United picking up just one win from their past five matches, Simmons remains confident the Pilgrims can get a positive resultagainst his ex-teammates.

“Of course we can,” he added.

“It always helps to know the players you’re playing against. I don’t think it’s ever a disadvantage to know you’re opposition.

“I know the lads there and they’re a good team, but we’ve got a great team here.

“I know that if we play to our standards, which we can do, we can get a result.

“We just need to get that consisntency and do it over 90 minutes. Then we can get results.”
