GAINSBOROUGH Town made it six wins in a row and 12 without a defeat after coming behind against a resilient Louth.

Three second half goals were enough to secure all three points at Marshalls, and keep the pressure on the top sides.

Josh Nichol bagged a brace and Leigh Hutchinson continued his rich goal scoring form with another.

Town should have been 1-0 up within the first 20 minutes, Greg Andrews’ low corner was met by Steve Hutchinson at the front post but he could not get his effort on target with the goal gaping.

The first half was a scrappy affair with Town fortunate not to be behind at the half-time whistle after Liam Andrews pulled off numerous good saves and Holland, Page and Locking provided some excellent blocks and last ditch tackles to keep the Louth team at bay.

Gainsborough went behind early in the second half after a long hopeful ball was played behind the town defence, Liam Andrews came out to clear but the ball rebounded off Ashley Holland and rolled into the back of the Town net.

It wasn’t long before they responded however, with the ever lively L. Hutchinson cutting in from the left hand side of the 18 yard box before coolly slotting past the keeper at the far post.

Town made it 2-1 after a cross from the left was missed by everyone, Bognar collected on the right and played a low ball into the box and in came a sliding Joshua Nichol to grab his eighth of the season.

It wasn’t long after that Nichol doubled his tally for the day with a fantastic strike.

Town were given a free-kick 25 yards out slightly to the left of the goal, Greg Andrews rolled it to Nichol and he hit an unstoppable shot that left the keeper with no chance.
