Triple boost for Brigg Town but Hutchinson departs

Brigg Town were this week given a triple boost as three more players committed their futures to the Zebras ahead of their next NCEL Division One campaign.

Ryan Thompson, Dayle Hutson and Chaz Fisher will all be back in the Black & White, but Scott Hutchinson has departed the club.

Thompson has been a familiar face around the club in recent years and proven himself to be a versatile and dependable player, consistently stepping up and delivering wherever needed on the pitch.

His coaching background also brings valuable leadership qualities to the squad, making him an important figure both on and off the field.

After finishing as Brigg's second-highest scorer last campaign with 13 goals in 24 appearances, Hutson has become a key part of the squad.

His composure on the ball and ability to make things happen in attack have made him a firm favourite with the supporters.

Fisher is a true club stalwart, now closing in on a remarkable milestone, with 199 appearances to his name, so it won’t be long before he joins the 200 Club.

From unforgettable moments to crucial goals, Fisher has played a huge part in Brigg's journey over the years.

However, Hutchinson has decided to take on a new challenge and left the club.

A Brigg spokesman said: “Everyone at the club would like to thank him for his commitment and wish him every success for the future.

“Hutch has been a fantastic person to have around the club and has made a significant contribution both on and off the pitch, scoring goals for the first team and development team while always representing the club with pride.

“We are grateful for everything he has given during his time with us and wish him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his career. Once a Zebra, always a Zebra.”

The Julie Taylor Trophy returns to the EC Surfacing Stadium this pre-season as Brigg welcome Scunthorpe United on Tuesday, 7th July.

The last meeting between the sides saw Scunthorpe edge the trophy on penalties after a goalless draw, and with the Iron narrowly missing out on promotion once again, another close game is anticipated.
