Home team celebrates victory in club event

A large field entered the Open Am Am at Sleaford Golf Club, where the home team of Jason Burnett, Oliver Harrod, Paul Williamson and Tim Siddall sealed a narrow win with a score of 92.

In second place, with 91pts, were Lee Driver, Rolly Wright, Bob Ewen and Dave Burrows.

The Seniors section clinched two more excellent wins, against Boston and Belton Park.

In the away fixture at Boston, the team won by 5.5 to 2.5, with winning pairs being Tony Masters and Roy Preston, Peter Elliott and Bob Ewen, Peter Gresham and John Kyte and Kevin Cordukes and Phil White. Hugh Court and Chris Green halved.

In the home fixture against Belton Park the team won 6-2.

Winning pairs were Peter Budd and Frank Wykes, Pat Flemming and Al Pearson, Kevin Cordukes and Richard Higgs, Peter Elliott and Tony Masters and Hugh Copurt and John Webster. Clive Boyfield and John Dutton and Roy Preston and John Harris halved.

Daniel Taylor won the men’s May Medal with a fine net 65.

Gus Arbon has qualified for the Lombard Trophy where he will play with the club professional at Thetford Golf Club on July 13.

The Silver Putter was won by Chris Perkins with an excellent 43pts, with Richard Waudby taking first place in Div 1 on 40pts.

The A team won again, at home to Spalding.

The B team were beaten 3.5 to 2.5 in the return away fixture.
