Kenwick Park: Graham lands Captain's Trophy

Graham Sykes enjoyed wonderful wall-to-wall sunshine for his Captain's Weekend at Kenwick Park Golf Club.

Simon Lidgard and his team of greenkeepers presented the course in superb condition for the 136 men who played a stableford for the Captain’s Trophy on Saturday.

John Stephenson played his best round of golf since joining Kenwick in April, and scored a great 40 points to win.

Peter Grantham won the best seniors prize with 36 points, and junior captain Harry Wood scored 35 to win the best junior prize.

Kieren Towse was nearest-the-pin in two at the ninth hole, and Grahame Ward won nearest-the-pin at the 12th hole.

* The following day, mixed teams of four played an am-am with two scores to count at each hole.

Club chairman John Beverley, Tracey Stobart, Lewis Andrew and Tom Gladwell all played well to win with 91 points.

Dermot Dreelan, Karen Archer, Trevor and Pam Haywood finished as runners-up with 90, while Josh Baines, Mike Morley, and Nick and Jo Cudmore scored 89 to finish third on a countback from Neil Pridgeon, Helen Sherratt, Julia Labbett and Sue Sykes.

Lewis Andrew was nearest-the-pin for the men at the eighth hole, and lady captain Penny Buckley won the ladies’ prize at the second hole. A special mention goes to Nick Cudmore who holed his second shot at the par four ninth.

Six people holed the putt in the long putt competition and Anne Lavin was drawn out as the winner.

This raised more than £200 for Graham’s nominated charities of LIVES and the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service.
