British Superbikes: Kiyonari and O'Halloran hopes for Oulton Park

O’Halloran recorded an eighth place at the end of the three sessions, while Kiyo was a few places back in 11th position.

The final test in a series of three will have helped the riders with set up and familiarised them with the technical Cheshire circuit for this weekend’s meeting.

Kiyo has won at Oulton several times over the years and will be hoping to step onto the podium once again on Monday.

“We have worked hard today to try lots of things with the bike,” he said. “Lots of different changes to the set-up, different components.

“We have raised the rear of the bike, and this seems to have worked well for me, so we are moving in the right direction with everything that we try and have improved the bike’s base setting.

“I’m now excited to come back here and race.”

O’Halloran was on the pace last season at Oulton, completing the two races in seventh and fifth and he, too, will have his eye on a podium finish this time around.

The Australian rider has returned to the Louth-based Honda Racing team after spending half of last season sidelined with a badly-broken leg.

But back to full fitness he went well at Silverstone in round one, recording two top six finishes and will be looking to improve on Bank Holiday Monday.

The meet begins on Saturday with two free practice sessions at 10.10am and 2.40pm.

On Sunday there is a final free practice session at noon for riders to make their final preparations for qualifying which begins at 2.05pm.

Monday is race day and the Superbikes have a 15-minute warm-up at 9.30pm ahead of the first 18-lap race at 1.30pm, the results of which will set the grid for race two which is off at 4.30pm.

Sunday’s qualifying and Monday’s two races will be televised live on Eurosport 2.
