Jack claims second

Jack Drury got back on the bike for the first competitive race of the season as Thundersport GB took to Brands Hatch and claimed a podium finish.

After Friday’s testing, Saturday started off dry, but the heavens opened 15 minutes before qualifying began.

After a mad dash to get the wet tyres on, Drury, from Old Leake, secured 11th spot on the grid for the weekend.

Race one was a wet and rainy affair, in which Drury attempted to work his way through the field.

He eventually made it to sixth spot on the penultimate lap, but after coming up to back markers he eventually lost a couple of places and had to settle for eighth overall.

“It was all good experience and we brought the bike home just as it went out,” Drury reflected.

Race two on Sunday was a drier affair.

Drury had a terrible start and estimated he slipped back to 20th.

But after getting back into the rhythm of things, he forced his way through the crowd to claim sixth overall.

Race three saw Drury finish off the podium.

After a better start from 11th on the grid he was making ground around the outside of Paddock Hill and running with the front boys from the start. After a tussle with his rivals, Jack secured second spot.

Drury also intends to compete in several rounds with the BSB paddock in the Superstock 600 class this year.
