With fine and sunny weather throughout practice week, Ivan was able to get plenty of track time under his belt to familiarise himself with the gruelling 37.75-mile mountain road course, and in Thursday’s penultimate session he recorded his best ever lap of 127.7mph from a standing start.

With the TT being more of a time trial, riders set off at 10-second intervals and race against the clock over the six laps, with Lintin beginning his campaign from 20th position.

Riding the Devitt R C Express Kawasaki, he was circulating in 14th position throughout the first two laps and, after pitting for his first fuel stop, he moved up a place to 13th at Glen Helen on lap three. He was up to 12th at the Bungalow on the run across the mountain, but dropped a place on the fourth lap to 13th and by the time he reached Ramsey he was back down to 14th.

Unable to make up ground, he remained in 14th place throughout the final two laps and crossed the finish line for 14th to be awarded a silver replica.

After the race there was a practice session for the Lightweight class which he won last year and Ivan set the fastest lap to finish at the top of the leaderboard with a fast lap of 117.1mph.
