Both he and Draper Racing team-mate Aaron Clarke took part in the third and final official British Superbike test at Oulton Park on Friday with Tommy Philp completing the three British Supersport sessions in 17th place while Aaron Clarke was 10th in the three Superstock 600 tests.

The test gave both riders the opportunity to gain track experience with the new Draper Racing Yamaha machines and also some valuable set-up time ahead of the weekend’s second round encounter.

Tommy missed out on a result in the sprint race at Silverstone as the weather and numerous crashes by some over-ambitious riders caused the race to be abandoned. It will be run at another event sometime during the season.

Twenty-year-old Tommy, originally from Slough, rode to a fine points finish of 13th in the feature race the next day and will be seeking to build on that at Oulton this weekend.

There are two Supersport free practice sessions on Saturday, at 9.35am and again at 1.35pm. Qualifying is at 12.55pm on Saturday and that will set the grid for the sprint race that is to run over 12 laps at 3.25pm. There is a short warm-up on Monday at 10.25am ahead of the 16-lap feature race at 3.40pm.

Aaron, from Kirton near Boston, was delighted with his test results and if he can convert that into his race result he will be really happy as he has yet to score points in the Stock 600 class.
