Step back in time with Belton Women’s Institute

Old photographs of a bygone Isle of Axholme have been discovered by Epworth Bells reader Gilly Byrne.

Gilly, of High Street, Belton, found these pictures at the back of a drawer and believes they may be taken at the village Women’s Institute’s birthday sometime in the 1970s.

She said: “I don’t know the venue, but the birthday cake was always cut by the longest serving member, and the lady doing the honours was Ada Gibson.

“The two older ladies would also have been very long standing members, with the Belton president.”
