Carlton Road look to be cruising to bowls title

Carlton Road are seemingly cruising to the Boston Indoor Bowls League’s Orchard Health Group Division One title after claiming all six points against IBC this week.

John Molson, Geoff Parker and Alex Tomlin won 17-15 while Ian Clark, Sue Simpson Shaw and Les Feary succeeded 20-18.

Eastenders dropped two points against struggling Red 5 as John Mountain, Louise Catchpole and Paul Flatters lost 21-9 to Bill Hodges, Neil Owen and Ian Smith.

Enders’ Wayne Phoenix, Keith Tointon and Ady Field had no problems winning their contest 39-5.

Third-place Invaders won all the points from Boston Park, Scott Whyers and Rod West successful 25-11 and 27-10.

Parthians won the all the points against Punchbowlers, the overall score being 35-28.

A40 dropped two points to bottom team Breakaways.

Derek Butwright won 20-9 but this score was surpassed by A40’s Norma Barnes, Janet Vinter and Arnold Bennett (24-7).

Holland Fen beat Jolly Farmers 32-30 for four points.

In the T&B Containers Division Two, leaders Royal Mail were on a bye week.

Their nearest rivals Strollers didn’t really take full advantages and had to be happy with four points.

Cosmos skip Jean Thompson won 16-15 for two points but Alan Everitt cleaned up the aggregate points with a good finish to win 19-10.

Dynamics had a good win against Central as skips Melv Pack and Graham Wilkinson were both successful 18-13.

The Golfers, always unpredictable, fell to the Burtons. Gordon Gallichan tied with Gordon Neal and Burtons’ Dave Baileys won 21-13 against Barrie Williamson, Roy Vinter and Graham Scarboro.

Nomads skips Mel Maddison and Barry Beagles had no problems seeing off Patriarchs, producing and overall winning score of 51-15 for six points.

Autos and Poachers shared the rink points but higher team Poachers secured four points thanks to Mike Campion, Dennis Robins and Mick Dodes (24-9).

Newly-formed Pilgrims look on their way to promotion from the Cammacks Division Three, holding a 21-point advantage.

They beat Vectors with an overall success of 53-27.

Second-place Vikings were on a bye week.

Bias beat Phantoms thanks to Dave May (23-13) and Ivor Roberts (16-15).

U3 surprisingly defeated Hotspurs with and overall success of 45-21.

Fairways and Shipmates shared the rink points but Shipmates proved stronger on the night, Ray Robinson producing a winning scorecard of 26-10.

Fairways’ Heather Scarboro falling short of the number of shots desired with a win of 17-12.

With Hotspurs not winning a point, Amateurs squeezed ahead of them in the table.

Matched against the Saxons, John Hodgson’s 20-16 triumph was bettered by Amateurs captain Tony Nixon, 26-7.
