World Masters Powerlifting bronze in Reno for Inara

A 42-year-old Lincolnshire mum has proved that age is no barrier to strength after winning a bronze medal for Great Britain at the 2026 IPF World Masters Powerlifting Championships in Reno, Nevada, USA, last week.

Inara Kuisele, originally from Latvia, has lived in the UK for more than 20 years and has strong connections to Boston, where she previously owned C-4 Gym.

Competing in the Women's Masters 1, +84kg category, Inara achieved an impressive 192.5kg squat, 95kg bench press and 220kg deadlift, finishing with a personal-best total of 507.5kg.

Her performance secured third place in the world, along with a silver medal in the individual deadlift event.

However, the journey to the podium was far from easy.

Alongside balancing full-time work, raising her three-year-old daughter and training, Inara battled illness in the weeks leading up to the championships, including severe sinusitis that continued throughout her trip to America.

Despite feeling unwell, she stepped onto the platform determined to give her best.

Inara said: “Standing on the world championship podium at 42 means so much to me.

“Squatting 192.5kg and deadlifting 220kg at my age is something I'm incredibly proud of.

“These are serious weights, and I'm still getting stronger and setting personal records.

“Balancing work, family life and training hasn't been easy, especially while battling illness.

“I genuinely didn't know what to expect on competition day, which makes this medal even more special.

“I came to the UK from Latvia over 20 years ago and have built my life here in Lincolnshire.

“Representing Great Britain and bringing home a world bronze medal is an incredible feeling.

“I hope my achievement inspires other women to realise that turning 40 doesn't mean slowing down.

“You can be a mum, have a career and still chase big dreams. I'm 42, and I'm definitely not finished yet!”

A qualified personal trainer, powerlifting coach and referee, Inara also secured silver at the British Masters Championships in June 2026.

With a world bronze medal, deadlift silver and a new personal best, she now hopes to build on her success at future international championships.
