Tomlinson, 71, who set up the Stanley Street D team, was awarded with an engraved snooker trophy and plaque from Stanley Street Snooker Section, by team captain Antony Coupe, at the end of the final home game of the season .

Tomlinson said: “I set the team up in around 1993 along with Barry Chambers who took over the captainship after me.”

“It’s nice to be recognised and it was a lovely gesture from the Snooker Section.”

“I’d like to thank the current captain Antony, the team and everyone who played for me and with me over the years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time.”

“It’s been a great laugh but I’m not getting any younger and now it’s the right time to finish.”

On Saturday the league’s presentation will be held at Tickhill Institute at 7.30pm.

Prize money will go to charity if winners are not in attendance.
