Successful bowls-cricket event at indoor bowls club

Boston Indoor Bowls Club hosted the first bowls-cricket event of the season on a recent Saturday evening of fun bowling, attracting a full complement of 48 people in 12 teams. Sponsored by 617 Recruitment, the winners were led by Jonathan West, with Rod Dunn and Gillian and Mick Williamson.

Each team played three games to choose the four teams to fight out the semi-finals. Starting each game with a score of 20-20, teams could win points for their side in the ‘batting’ phase by bowling to a target and then reduce their opponent’s score during the ‘bowling’ phase as they bowled around a static set of bowls to hit a set of stumps.

Nathan Dunnington’s team, with Trevor Coulson, Mick Nundy and Sam Hines also qualified with 6 points to face and beat Graham Scarboro’s team of Alan Everitt, Howard Williams and Steve Wilkinson in the second semi-final.
