Swain takes on the cold for win

The temperature was cold on Falcon Lake, but the fish continued to show.

Swain on peg 15 fished across to take the win with 95lbs 4oz.

He fished shallow on pellet to catch mainly f1 carp.

In second was Paul Harsley on peg 45 with 92lbs 14oz and the third-placed angler was Paul Oglesbee on peg three with 72lbs 14oz.

Torrential rain saw just 10 anglers contest the Over 50s Open at Westwood Lakes on Thursday.

Paul Oglesbee braved the elements to win from peg two on Falcon Lake with 74lbs 8oz.

Results: 1 Paul Oglesbee (Westwood Lakes) 74lbs 8oz, 2 Ron Cuthbert (Webbs Tackle) 64lbs 4oz, 3 Ade Freeman (GOT Baits) 55lbs 8oz, 4 Alan Dixon (Fishtoft AC) 48lbs 2oz.

Just 2oz separated the top two in last week’s Tuesday Open Match on Falcon Lake.

Danny Hurst got the nod, to win with 85lbs 0oz.

Danny fished at 11 metres on maggot to catch all f1 Carp from peg three, pipping John Gooden from peg one.

The third placed angler was Ade Freeman from peg seven with 79lbs 5oz.
