Trampolinists jump for joy after funding boost

LOCAL trampoline stars are set to benefit from the Notts County Council’s £1m Sports Legacy Fund.

The pot of money was set aside to ensure a legacy from the 2012 Olympics in London, and Bassetlaw Trampoline Club are one of several local sports organisations to receive much needed finance.

A grant of £4,000 was made to the trampolinists by Coun John Cottee, chairman of the Notts Council Culture Committee.

The cash will be used to buy a high end competition trampoline, allowing youngsters to continue their progression through the junior ranks into elite competition.

The club has tasted success lately, in the East Midlands Grading Competition, in Lincoln at the start of February.

Six of the nine competitors from Bassetlaw TC finished on the podium

Charlotte Summerly not only won the Under 17 Ladies section, she upgraded to compete at Grade D.

Jacob Salt, aged just seven, took second in the Under 11 Grade G Boys competition, while Jack Hamblett was second in the Under 17 Boys section. Hamblett’s performance was enough to see him upgraded to Grade D.

Another second place went to Emma Levitt in the Under 17 Ladies Grade F, Hollie Peach produced some great routines to finishsecond in the Under 13 Girls and upgraded to F.

Isabella Crane was outstanding im the Under 11 competition and finished second on the podium, qualifying for Grade F.

Harry Tomlin finished fifth in the Under 13s Boys, Anna Hopkinson was sixth and Holly Pendleton ninth.

A delighted head coach Ray Bevan told the Guardian: “It was fantastic that all competitors completed all their routines.”
