The Hub launches free dance class for adults with additional needs in Sleaford

The Hub has announced the launch of a new disability-friendly dance class for adults in Sleaford.

The new Hub Unify Adults classes will take place every Monday from 5-6pm in the downstairs studio starting on March 2.

This class is designed to bring together adults with additional needs in Sleaford, encouraging them to build their confidence, make friends, and realise their potential through dance.

The class expands on The Hub’s pre-existing Unify Adults classes which take place in Skellingthorpe.

The Hub’s Dance Programme Manager Abbi Thompson said: “After the success of the current Unify programme in One NK, we are really excited to expand this offer in One NK and bring this opportunity to Sleaford for the first time.”

The impact of Unify Adult classes has seen participants remarking the sessions make them feel: “happy, energetic, and friendly”.

The Hub has been awarded funding for this project from The Movement Fund, on behalf of Sport England whose mission is to remove barriers to physical activity. The Hub is eager to share this method, seeing dance as a wonderful way to express yourself and to exercise - two benefits for the price of one. A spokesperson said: “Our sessions are run by experienced instructors and in accessible environments. The Hub Dance Team is committed to tackling barriers to participation and making dance for all.”

These new sessions will be led by two members of The Hub dance team, who say they are very excited to expand this opportunity and open doors to a more inclusive future for dance.

The first term of Hub Unify Adults will run from March 2 to 30. Sessions are free of charge and participants can register their interest by emailing [email protected].
