This was just some of the high praise from adjudicator Sam Dunkley for Market Rasen’s Da Capo Folk Group at the North Lincolnshire Music and Drama Festival in Brigg.

“Your songs were sung with real sincerity,” he added.

Da Capo comprised Rosie Brumpton, Mark Andrews, Cathy Turner, Jacqui Ward, Rosemary Cade and Hilary Pickering.

Rosie Brumpton also won the individual folk song class, pushing society chairman Tom Glossop into second place. “You had real clear words and a sincerity with your singing,”the adjudicator told Rosie.

Brigg Singers were also on the St John’s Church platform on the same final night of music.

“I enjoyed your performance, the altos came through well in The Cowboy Carol and it was good to see you smiling through your performance,” said Sam Dunkley.

The festival concluded its second week with the festival concert on Saturday evening at a packed Westmoor Hall at The Vale Academy, featuring some of its most outstanding performers.
