When: launching on Thursday 3 September

Delivered by experienced instructors from Chris the Mindset Coach CIC, each water-based activity session is carried out under specialist supervision and participants are guided through a series of movements, exercises and circuit-based training in the water.

The programme is being supported by funding from Parkinson’s UK, with the aim of giving more people the confidence to be active in water with the condition.

The weekly project is set to run for 12 weeks from the beginning of September and anyone interested in taking part is asked to complete a referral form to see if they are suitable to participate in the programme.

The programme is available for anyone with Parkinson’s, from newly diagnosed to more progressive and complex symptoms. The sessions are aimed at those with lower mobility levels, a BMI below 39 and those with lower levels of physical activity.

Chris Duncan, Parkinson’s Exercise Coach, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive funding from Parkinson's UK, enabling Chris the Mindset Coach CIC to launch aquatic activity and peer support sessions in Gainsborough.

“This investment will help people living with Parkinson's improve their physical wellbeing, build confidence, reduce isolation, and connect with others in a supportive, inclusive community where they can thrive together."

Eleanor Halford, Area Development Manager at Parkinson’s UK, said: “It’s great to be supporting this new project for people living with Parkinson’s in Lincolnshire.

“Being active can be one of the best ways to live well with Parkinson’s and my hope is that more people living locally with the condition will be able to experience the benefits of aquatic therapy in the future.”
