Celebrating NHS community winners and finalists in national Palliative and End of Life Care Awards
Teams from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) were recognised at the prestigious Palliative and End of Life Care Awards, held in London on Thursday 2 July.

The awards celebrate excellence, innovation and dedication in delivering high-quality, person-centred care for people approaching the end of life.
The Countywide Macmillan Team won the Palliative Care Team Award, recognising its innovative and resilient approach to delivering compassionate care. Key achievements include the development of a Palliative Single Point of Access line, strong multidisciplinary collaboration through palliative care huddles, and a continued focus on patient-centred support.

In addition, the South East Lincolnshire Palliative Huddles were highly commended in the Integrated Care Systems Award category. The award recognised effective multidisciplinary partnership working, collaboration and coordination of care that has led to improved patient outcomes and has since been successfully expanded across Lincolnshire. The initiative brings together colleagues from Macmillan Cancer Support, St Barnabas Hospice, Integrated Care Teams and Specialist Neighbourhood Nursing teams.
Lincolnshire team members were also finalists in multiple categories. Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialists Josie Vincent and Emma Orrey received individual nominations in the Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing Award category.
Josie was shortlisted for developing the Chapman Policy, improving out-of-hours access to syringe drivers, while Emma was recognised for her leadership in successfully implementing the palliative care huddle model in North West Lincolnshire.
Rosie Royce, Palliative Single Point of Access Lead at LCHS, said: “We are absolutely delighted to see our teams and colleagues recognised on a national stage. These awards are a wonderful reflection of the passion, commitment and expertise demonstrated every day by everyone involved in delivering palliative and end-of-life care across Lincolnshire.

“Winning the Palliative Care Team Award and receiving a highly commended recognition for our palliative huddles is a fantastic achievement. Most importantly, it highlights the real difference these services make to patients and families when they need support the most.
“To top it all off, we also won the award for best selfie of the night!”
Abi Alexander, Macmillan Team Lead at LCHS, added: “This recognition is a tremendous achievement for our teams and a proud moment for everyone involved. It celebrates the dedication, compassion and innovation that underpin palliative and end-of-life care across Lincolnshire.
“We are incredibly proud of our award winners, finalists and partners who work so closely together to provide outstanding care. Their commitment ensures more people can receive personalised, coordinated support and experience the very best quality of care at the end of life.”
