Through contemporary art and community participation, this ambitious programme of exhibitions and events aims to unearth and reinterpret objects from the Museum’s collection, offering a fresh perspective on local heritage.

Artists have researched untold histories of Sleaford through the interconnected themes of education, agriculture and industry, migration, and class. By unearthing and reinterpreting selected pieces from Sleaford Museum’s collection, the artworks challenge us to see aspects of our local heritage from different perspectives.

Historic works include the famous 'Little Wonder' plough manufactured in Sleaford by Fenton and Townsend Ltd and an engraving of Sleaford Church by Joseph Mallord William Turner. These works are displayed alongside new contemporary art commissions, including a film by Emily Andersen celebrating the life of Lincolnshire artist Karl Salsbury Wood, and work by Liz Kelleher and the Hub’s National Saturday Club exploring the history of Sharpe's Seeds.

The project is made possible by an award of £39,122 from Art Fund, the national charity for museums and galleries, through Art Fund’s Reimagine programme, supporting innovative collections projects across the UK.  The exhibition loans are supported by the Weston Loan Programme with Art Fund scheme to enable smaller and local authority museums to borrow works of art and artefacts from national collections.

Participating artists include Emily Andersen, John Beck and Matthew Cornford, Andrew Bracey, Dan Coopey, Nicola Davison-Reed, Liz Kelleher, Kelly Large, Danica Maier, Madhu Manipatruni, Harriet Plewis, Madara Vimba, Karl Woods, and Dino Zhang.

The exhibition is now open and runs at Sleaford Museum and the Hub until November 8.
