Dogs beat Beatles
This is the band that outsold The Beatles.

Yes, it happens in former Central TV presenter Dennis Coath’s new trilogy about an aged 'crock and roll' band, who reform in their 70s and 80s, launch ‘pensioner power’ and go on to global success, outselling The Beatles on their way.
Dennis was a frequent reporter in Lincolnshire covering the Imps. The books have been described as a ‘dynamic project’ by BBC Films, ‘turning heads’ by BNN America and De Mode Magazine’s reviewer said, ‘the grin is only just subsiding’. The Dogs even strut their senile stuff on the Abbey Road Crossing.

When The Beatles were launched in 1962, there was another band in the background expected to be bigger. From research Dennis found out there was more than a grain of truth in this! But The Dogs from Derby miss out on stardom. Fifty-five years later an impromptu reunion leads to this sensational success story and the fading four are propelled into the spotlight, facing up to the rigours of sex, drugs and rock and roll.
Dennis has also published books with England’s greatest cricketer Ian Botham and most capped footballer Peter Shilton, as well as Rats, Pies and Pigeon Poo – a guide for aspiring young journalists.
He also originated the World’s Biggest Liar Competition, now an annual event in Cumbria. That’s the truth!
After gaining an MA in history in his seventies at Bristol University, Dennis began writing the trilogy about the geriatric rock band – The Dogs. The Band That Time Forgot came out in 2024. The Band That Time Forgave is out now and The Band That Turned Back Time follows later this year.

The story is very pertinent with the success of aged rockers like The Stones, The Who, Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart, bands and acts Dennis saw, in clubs during the 1960s.
Next year Dennis publishes a history novel with a totally new appraisal about 1066, which is now very relevant with the Bayeaux tapestry on display in the UK.
