Live opera returns to Lincolnshire
Two Lincolnshire venues to host Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas
Fenwold Opera returns to Alford Corn Exchange and The Blue Room, Lincoln to perform Purcell's Dido and Aeneas this October.

Following the success of their most recent production of Hercules at Louth's Riverhead Theatre, the same cast will be assuming new roles in this dramatic masterpiece.
Alongside Dido and Aeneas, the group will perform a concert version of The Fairy Queen by the same composer. This light-hearted romp balances perfectly with the gritty tale of Purcell's only full opera, and will be accompanied by a live harpsichord trio.
Striving to make classical music accessible in the county, Fenwold Opera are working with local schools to encourage more young people to explore the art form, alongside offering half-priced tickets for under 25s. General admission tickets are £16, and are available from www.fenwoldopera.com
The group is led by local singer and conductor George Elson, and features students past and present of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Local pianist and educator Josh Wilkinson will join the group again as Musical Director.
The opening night at Alford Corn Exchange is on October 23, at 7pm, and following this on October 24, at 3pm for a matinee at The Blue Room, Lincoln.
Both pieces will be sung in English, and there will be an interval between them. Expected runtime 2h 30m including interval.
