Work is starting at a brand-new pharmacy in Spilsby as part of a £240k relocation investment, enhancing healthcare services and facilities for the local area.

Once complete in January 2027, the Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacy will move from its current location on High Street to Post Office Lane, inside the same premises as the retailer’s Spilsby Food Store and Community Library.

The food store will remain open as usual throughout the work, however the library will need to temporarily close from Wednesday 4th November and will reopen mid-December.

Relocating the outlet creates a one-stop destination for key services, and the new purpose-built pharmacy offers benefits for both patients and colleagues.

While the current pharmacy has just one consultation room, the new pharmacy will feature two rooms, with expanded space for healthcare services and enhanced dispensary and medication storage facilities.

Patients will continue to be able to collect prescriptions and purchase over-the-counter medications, too.

A new modern look, including blue tones and wooden textures, will be adopted throughout, creating a calming environment.

The premises also has its own car park, including disabled parking, which isn’t available at the current pharmacy, and there’s additional parking available opposite the building.

Colleagues will continue to support patients with prescriptions and healthcare services from the existing Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacy on High Street, up until its relocation.

At this time, patients will be automatically transferred to the new pharmacy, enabling them to continue collecting prescriptions and accessing services without disruption.

All the colleagues from the current pharmacy will also move to the new location.

The library will also benefit from a refresh, including redecoration and a new ceiling and flooring. The relocation of the pharmacy is also expected to encourage more people to make use of the library’s services.

Lincolnshire Co-op is working with different contractors including D2 Projects, Brook & Mayo and JGR.

Grainne Freeman, Lincolnshire Co-op's Pharmacy Operations Manager, said: “As healthcare continues to evolve, this investment will enhance the services we offer and ensure more local people can access the support they need closer to home.

“The new pharmacy will enable our Spilsby team to deliver key services on a wider scale, improving health and wellbeing in the local area, and reducing the strain on other healthcare services.”
