Residents at Newton House, in Grantham, enjoyed a heartwarming moment this week as Charles’ wish to go fishing was granted through the Barchester Wish Initiative.

Fishing has been one of Charles’ favourite hobbies throughout his life, and he was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the activity and reminisce about the many happy days he spent fishing whenever he could.

The trip to Woody’s proved to be a memorable experience, bringing back treasured memories and giving Charles the opportunity to share stories from his fishing days.

Although no fish were caught, the day was a great success, with the experience itself proving far more valuable than any catch.

Charles was keen to express his gratitude to everyone who helped make the day possible, particularly Jack, fiancé of Newton House Activity Assistant Charlotte, who generously took time off work to accompany him on the trip.

Reflecting on the experience, Charles said: “I can’t thank you all enough for today, it’s been incredible and made more special in the company of Jack, what a wonderful young man he is.”
