Residents at local care home strum sing and smile Ukulele style
Residents and guests at The Cedars care home in Bourne enjoyed an uplifting afternoon in their stunning gardens with the12 piece Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding.

The super talented group gave a wonderfully interactive performance to the residents including “The Wild Rover” by the Dubliners, “Those Were The Days “ by Mary Hopkin, “King of The Swingers” from the Jungle Book and a catchy medley of “5ft 2”, “Aint She Sweet” and “Yes Sir! That’s My Baby”. The whole group played together with harmonies and a full layered sound and delivered the set with such fun. The singing and the laughter was contagious and culminated in the residents grinning from ear to ear as a visitor to the home exited the beautifully manicured grounds to “Bring Me Sunshine” in true Morecambe style.

Senior General Manager, Rebecca Aldred said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day alongside such wonderful performers. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at The Cedars as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this one will be a stand out memory for us all!”
Resident, Peter Baker, a true music lover, was thrilled when asked if he would like to “have a go” on the ukulele, he said “That was such a kind a gesture, and it made my day!” The Activity team at the Cedars said, “We can’t thank this fun, musical bunch enough for taking the time to share the instruments they love with our residents too, it meant the world!”
