'Rare opportunity' to acquire marina business in Boston

One of Boston’s more picturesque locations – a 50-berth marina business – has been brought to market.

Boston Gateway Marina, based on Witham Bank East, has been listed with an asking price of £250,000.

The business comprises about 50 leisure berths across 22 finger pontoons, with room for boats of up to 62ft.

The sale is being overseen by Poyntons Consultancy, which described it as ‘a rare opportunity’.

A spokesman said: “Situated on Witham Bank East, on the freshwater side of the Grand Sluice Lock, the marina is in a tranquil setting while remaining within a short walk of Boston town centre.

“The location provides easy access to the town's shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and other amenities, while the surrounding area offers opportunities to explore the Lincolnshire countryside, coast and nature reserves.”

Each berth has its own metered electricity supply, with water also available, Poyntons notes.

‘Significant recent investment’ has been made in the marina, it adds, including the replacement and upgrading of the pontoons, lighting, CCTV, sheds, observation areas and disability access from the entrance.

There is also a raised platform with seating for customers and storage facilities for marina use, plus fencing and gated access, it says.

“For prospective purchasers, the sale includes the existing business together with fixtures and fittings, the marina website and booking system, and the bespoke business branding and intellectual property,” the spokesman said.

“The marina's location also provides considerable appeal to boat owners looking to explore the wider waterways. The River Witham navigation runs for approximately 31.8 non-tidal miles from Brayford Pool in Lincoln to the Grand Sluice, with connections towards the River Trent and navigable drains. Beyond the Grand Sluice, the tidal River Haven provides access to The Wash and North Sea.”
