Join candlelit carol service at Ramblers Church
A candlelit carol service is being held at the old church at Walesby, known as the Ramblers Church.
The annual service is being hosted by the Friends of the Old Church Walesby, a registered charity, next Saturday December 13 at 7pm. Music will feature from the Gainsborough Salvation Army Citadel Band, as well as Da Capo Folk Group and Stonesthrow Folk Group.
There will be a collection towards the restoration project for the church.
Walesby Old Church has a prominent position on the Wolds and is a popular destination for walkers and others, with its annual candlelight carol service always well attended.
However, Walesby Parochial Church Council cannot afford to maintain both St Marys, which is the present parish church, and the Old Church as well.
Peter Braithwaite, chairman of the Friends of the Old Church Walesby, formed in 1980 to help care for the church, said all are welcome – walking boots or wellies plus torches are recommended.
