As part of Children's Mental Health Awareness week, local primary school Donington on Bain welcomed selected books to support their pupils.

Local businesses Post and Pantry and The Black Horse Inn in the village of Donington on Bain sponsored a book bundle each through local independent Usborne Partner, owner of My Own Bookcase and parent Kirsty Cartwright.

The bundles contain carefully selected mental health books, suitable for children in each age range and are designed to be fun, informative and helpful, including titles such as 'How Can I Make Friends?' and 'Questions and Answers about Feelings'. Also included was 'The Unworry Drawing Book', filled with drawing activities to help soothe busy minds and shrink worries.

Head Teacher Louise Anyan said: “This is a super initiative that provides resources to help support young minds. We are very grateful to local businesses for agreeing to sponsor these books that will help our children across the school.”

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week ran from February 9-15, 2026.
