A Caythorpe Primary School pupil has emerged from lockdown as an author after using the time away from classes to pen a book about angling.

Eight-year-old Charlie Woodward first became interested in the sport after spotting a fish in the river near Sleaford Leisure Centre. After wondering what type of fish it was, he discovered that he had seen a rainbow trout.

Lockdown gave Charlie the opportunity to explore his hobby further by creating a book on the subject. He researched all of the fish featured in it, selected the pictures, typed out the information and edited his work.

The hardback publication is titled Charlie’s Fishing Book.

Since returning to school, pupils have been exploring the theme ‘Under the Sea’, which gave Charlie the chance to share the book with his friends, who have enjoyed learning new information about various types of fish from it.
