British Cycling has now announced the world class line up including Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas, Peter Kennaugh, Lizzie Armitstead, Laura Trott and Dame Sarah Storey – but, despite all expectations, Sir Bradley Wiggins did not appear on the list.

However, organiser Ian Emmerson OBE believes that there may still be time for Sir Bradley if he wishes to take part.

Mr Emmerson said: “He’s not on the list at the moment, but as the defending national champion I’m sure British Cycling would look kindly on him if he decides that he wants to take part.”

Mr Emmerson added that Sir Bradley’s concentration will currently be elsewhere, as he is preparing to break the UCI Hour Record on Sunday (June 7).

The current record holder, Alex Dowsett, is already confirmed to take part in the National Road Championships.

The time trials will take place on Thursday June 25, starting and finishing at the Cadwell Park Motor Racing Circuit with the remainder of the route running along the top of the Lincolnshire Wolds as well as taking in the villages of Ruckland, Oslears Lane and Bluestone Heath Road.
