Flat in Skegness linked to drug activity and anti-social behaviour closed by police

A flat in Skegness has been closed following reports of suspected drug activity and persistent anti-social behaviour, according to Lincolnshire Police.

Police say officers secured a closure order on Tuesday, June 2, for Flat 2 at 72 South Parade after receiving numerous complaints from residents.

According to Lincolnshire Police, local people reported ongoing issues including suspected drug use and dealing, loud music during the night, and incidents involving shouting and fighting.

Police say information provided by residents enabled officers to gather sufficient evidence to apply for and obtain the closure order.

Community Beat Manager Sarah Garbutt said residents had played a key role in the action taken.

She said: "I'd like to reassure residents that we take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously.

"The matters raised by the community have been instrumental in allowing us to take decisive action, and the closure order is a clear demonstration of our commitment to keeping the area safe."

Police say they understand the impact that ongoing disorder and suspected drug activity can have on people's quality of life and remain committed to tackling such issues.

According to Lincolnshire Police, officers will continue to monitor the area and work with partner agencies, taking further enforcement action where necessary.

The force has also revealed it has served four Section 8 notices under the Misuse of Drugs Act on properties elsewhere in Skegness.

Police say these notices warn occupiers that suspected drug use or dealing may be taking place at their premises and remind them of their legal responsibility to prevent it.

Lincolnshire Police say the properties will be monitored and further action could include prosecutions, closure orders or other enforcement measures.

Residents with concerns about drug-related crime or anti-social behaviour are encouraged to report information to police.
