Police said another aggravated burglary took place last night (Monday) at a property on South Street, Morton at 8.20pm. The offender forced his way into the house of a 78-year-old woman, made aggressive threats and stole her purse containing £140.

The victim was not hurt but was shaken by the incident. Officers later located and arrested a man in his 30s in the local area, in connection with this offence and aggravated burglaries on Ropery Street and Portland Terrace. In both cases, elderly residents living alone were tied up and had money stolen.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them on 101.
