Parking wardens - I was stung by parking fine

Full marks to the Horncastle News for highlighting the zealous attitude of our beloved traffic wardens.

I was on the receiving end of a ticket from one of these wardens in Horncastle recently after I’d helped my elderly relative into a pharmacy to obtain her medicine.

When we returned to the car – admittedly after a lengthy wait for the prescription – the ticket was fixed to my windscreen.

On reflection, I should not have parked where I did, but I was not causing an obstruction and, when I drove away, people were parking in the same area – apparently just to use the cash dispensing machines.

I don’t live in Horncastle – I was just visiting my relative, but what message does this send out about the town.

Welcome to the ‘Gateway to the Wolds’.
