The event started on Saturday afternoon and organisers said it was a "fantastic success".

Wainfleet Motorcycle Meet organiser Carl Drury and local businessman Micheal Rusty came up with the idea just five weeks ago to raise people's spirits after discussing how local businesses were struggling because of the effect of Covid-19.

"We both said at the same time that the town needed an event," said Carl of Carl Drury Ltd.

"We are both motorbike owners, so we said, 'What about a bike night?'.

"We started to enquire within the motorcycle community via clubs and social media platforms and the response was fantastic.

"We opened a Facebook page called Wainfleet Bike Night, posted the date on the page along with photos of our beautiful town, including the business that needed a boost, and spoke to the food outlets within the town and got them to extend their opening times because we only wanted the revenue going back into our town. The rest is history,

"We cannot thank the bikers enough for supporting us. It was so good to see our small town come alive after such a long time.

"The local food outlets and the Woolpack bar and restaurant were all busy and that's what this was all in aid of.

"This as not been for our profit or gain. We feel it's so important in these uncertain times to get behind our rural towns and villages.

"We would like to give a big 'thank you' to everyone involved in making this possible, including Coun Wendy Bowkett and the town council, in entrusting us with the town's market place.
