'Celebrity guest' Timmy Mallett spills the beans about his upcoming visit to Lincolnshire

TV presenter and artist Timmy Mallett has spoken out about his upcoming visit to Lincolnshire.

The celebrity has been booked as the special guest at this year’s Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe Carnival, on July 26.

Mallett topped the UK song charts in 1990 with his cover of the song Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - and became a household name in the 1980s and ‘90s for his appearances on on kids’ TV shows like Wacaday, his eccentric fashions and “utterly brilliant” catchphrase.

In more recent years he has appeared on ITV’s I’m a Celeb. In 2020 he published his memoir, Utterly Brilliant: My Life’s Journey, which has more than 200 five-star reviews on Amazon.

He will take to the stage at 1pm on the carnival day, perform his hit song and play his iconic ‘Mallett’s Mallet’ word-association game - armed with his mallet and plasters to stick on the losers.

"I’m absolutely delighted to be coming back to Sutton on Sea – one of my favourite seaside resorts!” he told Lincolnshire World.

“I last visited in 2022 during my 5,000 mile cycle odyssey around the coast of Britain. I ended up staying for a few days while I was having some bike issues. The people there were wonderful.”

Mallett also visited Sutton on Sea after turning on Mablethorpe’s summer illuminations back in 2009.

"I can remember staying in Sutton after the switch-on, it was utterly brilliant!”

Asked if he will bring ‘Pinky Punky’ with him on the day – his squeaky-voiced mallet sidekick - he added: “Of course, he is essential. I will bring copies of my book too.”
