Father Terry of Burgh Parish Church says due to having to cancel fundraisers and the church being forced to close during lockdown, they are now appealing for support for a Christmas Gift Day.

Normally the gift day is held in September, but due to Covid-19 this didn't happen.

Other events that have had to be cancelled include a summer fair, afternoon tea and the Christmas Fair.

"We know other charities are in a similar situation," said Father Terry. "However, the church's running costs continue.

"Our insurance for the coming year is £3,305.76 and we have had the added blow of needing £20,000 of work done to the south aisle roof.

"Thankfully, the church is back open daily and for services including baptisms, weddings and funerals.

"But many members of our congregation have not returned to services yet because of Covid."

Christmas Gift Day envelopes have been delivered to parishioners' homes and they can be returned to church on Saturday, December 12, from 10am to 5pm. Alternatively they can be left at the Spa Shop, Snapdragons Flower Shop, or The Rectory in Glebe Rise.
