Fundraiser launched after break in at trading cards shop in Gainsborough
A fundraiser has been launched after high-value trading cards worth £4,000 were stolen from a shop in Gainsborough.
The incident happened at Trading Cards Gainsborough on Lord Street on Sunday, August 9.
As well as the theft the intruders also caused around £2,000 worth of damage.
Toni Marlow, who runs the business along with Brad Marlow and Daz Thirkell, said: “Me, Brad and Daz are all devastated over what has happened as we have worked so hard over for nearly three years to build up our company to where it is.

“The support from the community and other businesses has been overwhelming.
“We aren’t going to let this stop us. We will be back open very soon, and we cannot wait to see the community again.”
Inspector Michael Head, of the Gainsborough Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “At approximately 3.20am on Sunday, August 9, we received a report that the Trading Cards shop on Lord Street, Gainsborough, had been broken into by two individuals, with a quantity of high-value trading cards subsequently stolen.
“We are appealing to residents and businesses in the area who may have CCTV, doorbell camera footage, or any other recordings that could assist in identifying the offenders to come forward and support ongoing enquiries.
“Crimes of this nature can have a significant impact on local businesses, particularly independent retailers, causing substantial financial loss and disruption.
“For specialist shops such as this, stock often represents years of investment and dedication, and the effects of theft can be felt far beyond the immediate financial cost.
“These businesses are often at the heart of their communities, providing a place for people with shared interests to socialise and take part in their hobbies. When thefts like this occur, it can affect staff and customers, potentially reducing opportunities for people to come together and enjoy these spaces.
“We understand incidents like this can be upsetting for business owners and customers alike, and we are committed to supporting the victim while carrying out a thorough investigation.
“We would urge anyone who has information about this theft, or who is offered any rare, high-value trading cards for sale in suspicious circumstances, to contact us. Please call 101 quoting incident 26000474135.”
In response to the break in a fundraising page has been set up to help the business get back on its feet.
