Chairman Neil Freeman thanked all sponsors, suppliers and patrons for being part of last year’s event, but said they will not be going ahead with any outdoor events this year until hopefully the Santa sleigh tour.

The event has been running since 2011 and Mr Freeman said: “The 2019 event raised nearly £11,500 for charity and good causes.

“This year would have been our 10th anniversary and we were looking forward to putting on another spectacular Oktoberfest.

“Local authorities are not currently able to approve large group events and without the virus being suitably under control it is with regret that we have made the decision to cancel this year’s festival.”

They plan to be back in 2021 on September 16-18 on Boston Road Recreation Ground.
