Pom pom tree blooms as craft organisation in Alford keeps community’s creative juices flowing during lockdown

A not-for-profit organisation in Alford has been helping people stay creative during the lockdown through free craft kits.

Alford Craft Market has given away hundreds of the packs (520, in all) to households in and around the town. Two examples are pictured above.

A little under half of the kits were for making pom poms to decorate the tree in the main Market Place. Each pom pom had a label attached to it where people could put their name and a message for a friend, a family member, or just the world.

After handing out 240 of the kits, some 400 pom poms were received – the tree is pictured left. Thanks are given to all those who supported the project, including Chester and George Share and Care volunteers, The Wool Factory, and ‘Ann and Julian at Pom Pom HQ’.
