In all, 275 trees were dropped off or collected, including the 30-foot giant which served the town so well in the Market Place throughout the Christmas and New Year.

The recycling project was organised by Market Rasen Rotary Club, in association with Market Rasen Town Council.

Rotarians Neil Taylor and Harold Bates were on hand at De Aston Field on the final day, last Saturday, to receive trees.

As previously reported, the trees will be chipped and then used to fill low areas in the field, and for pathways through the trees, which are about to be planted on the site, as part of the town’s ‘greening’ project.

In addition, £60-75 was collected in donations, which will help funds for the Rotary Club’s Community Service Committee.
