Telephone befriending service launched in Lincolnshire during Covid-19 outbreak

A telephone befriending service has been launched to ensure those who are most isolated can stay connected.

Caroline Killeavy, CEO of YMCA Lincolnshire, said: “As we move through the ever changing landscape of living during lockdown we are wholly aware of the effect the pandemic is having on people who are isolated and their communities.

to the shop, by bringing people together for a friendly chat with our team; this regular personal contact can make all the difference.”

ConnecTED Together has received support from the Lincolnshire Community Foundation as part of the National Emergency Trust response to Covid-19, to be able to offer this service across the county.

ConnecTED has been developed, and is managed, by the TED – Ageing Better in East Lindsey Programme, part of YMCA Lincolnshire’s Communities work, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme works throughout East Lindsey to support people over 50 who may experience loneliness and isolation, TED is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
