Tree festival at Horncastle church a sure sign Christmas is on its way
A surefire sign that the festive season is on its way comes with notice of the annual Christmas Tree Festival in Horncastle.
Once again, St Mary’s Church will host a bright and colourful array of trees and wreaths, all decorated by businesses, community groups, shops, schools and residents within the town.
It is hoped that more than 50 displays will be on show, and the organisers are hoping the event will attract hundreds of visitors from across the country, maybe topping 2,000 if the weather outside is not too wintry.
This year’s spectacular festival takes place over the weekend of Friday, December 4 to Sunday, December 6.

It kicks off at 7.30 on the Friday evening with a free Christmas concert in the historic church, featuring the ever-popular Banovallum Singers, who are based in Horncastle and are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2026.
As well as musical entertainment, including carols, wine and mince pies will be served to help the audience get into the Christmas spirit.
The tree festival proper opens on the Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm, and continues on the Sunday, from 12 midday to 4 pm.
The rector of the Horncastle parish, Rev Canon Charles Patrick, says: “It is always lovely to see so much support for this event, with the schools, businesses and residents coming together to create something special within St Mary's.”
