‘Sign up for Rasen Speed Watch’

Residents are being reminded they can sign up to take part in a new speed watch scheme in Market Rasen - with volunteer training next Tuesday (August 11).

Rasen Speed Watch was set up last summer after residents raised concerns about the speed of vehicles coming into the town on all of the major routes.

The group has invested in speed detection equipment and is now in a position to recruit volunteers to help run the scheme.

Market Rasen Deputy Mayor Stephen Bunney said: “There’s clearly issues at Willingham Woods with motorcyclists and cars - and social distancing.

“There’s also been a lot of bikes in town screeching down Queen Street.

“[And] all the way along the A631 and into town.

“There’s training for Speed Watch at Festival Hall, with Covid distancing.

“[Training will include] looking at the law and how to use the gun.

“Once we’ve done that we can get together with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and work out which sites we want to do.”

Initial training will take place at the town’s Festival Hall on Tuesday, August 11, at 3.30pm.

Anyone wishing to take part should contact the town council clerk beforehand - call 01673 842479 or email townclerk@market
